I am a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in journalism and political science, my two favorite topics.
This past summer I interned at the Aberdeen American News, in Aberdeen, S.D., honing my daily reporting skills and learning about reporting in communities smaller than the cities where I have spent the majority of my life. Last summer I interned at Minnesota Public Radio, a goal I have worked toward since high school. There I conducted interviews and wrote posts for the Statewide blog in addition to assisting with MPR’s Facebook and Twitter sites.
Now looking toward graduation, my goal is to pursue a career in a creative and challenging environment, probably in investigative journalism and/or public broadcasting. My all-time favorite parts of journalism are digging deeper into issues and conducting interviews with people who have found their passions. I live to learn, and I do that through well-researched interviews and stories.
I love a good conversation, and I’m enthusiastic about anything that moves me one step closer to a journalism career.
